DJ did the right thing by telling the teacher. The teacher should have taken control at that point to stop the issue. DJ did what any typical kid would do. He took matters into his own hands. So just because DJ stood up for himself and he had ADD it's automatically his fault? No Way! I would do exactly as the parents in this story are doing and take it to the school board. It's not fair to punish a child for standing up for himself, nor is it right to blame him because he has ADD.

Co Existing Conditions?
http://www.connectwithkids.com/tipsheet/2010/517_nov24/thisweek/101124_adhd.shtml
It's amazing what having one disorder can lead to. Like Ariel, not only having ADD but anxiety and depression as well. Is it wrong to assume one might possibly lead to the other? I could understand getting frustrated when you aren't able to focus enough to get something done. I would assume these disorders could result in a chain reaction to one another.

Another Study on ADHD?
http://old.news.yahoo.com/s/hsn/20110601/hl_hsn/childrenwithadhdmorepronetosubstanceabusestudy
The study only included 268 children diagnosed with adhd. However, there are 4 million people that have been diagnosed with this disorder. It makes you wonder how accurate the surveys are. Obviously the surveys cannot be concluded as fact with such a small amout of the affected population being used.

How is Something so Serious so Misdiagnosed???
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/14/health/14consumer.html?_r=2&partner=rss&emc=rss
For years now, doctors have been diagnosing ADHD and yet they still have no clear description of the type of symptoms it carries? That raises many questions to me because I know a lot of people that have kids that are diagnosed with ADHD. Without knowing for sure my child did in fact have this disorder, I would not medicate my kid.
